Pakistan Solar Guide

Solar Battery System Pakistan — The Complete Guide

Solar panels generate electricity. A battery stores it. Together, they eliminate your dependence on the grid — and on load shedding, rising tariffs and diesel generators. This guide covers everything you need to know before buying a solar battery system in Pakistan.

Why Solar + Battery

Solar Alone Is Not Enough. Here Is Why.

0 kW
Solar After Sunset

Solar panels generate nothing after dark. Without a battery, you are back on the grid — or on a generator — for every evening and overnight hour.

5.5–6h
Peak Sun, Karachi

Karachi receives 5.5 to 6.0 peak sun hours daily — among the highest in South Asia. A well-sized battery captures every unit of that generation for use on your schedule.

LFP
Right Chemistry

Lithium Iron Phosphate is the correct battery chemistry for Pakistan. Thermally stable in heat, 6,000+ cycle life, and no fire risk from thermal runaway.

Rs 22–37
Grid Rate 2025

Pakistan’s grid rate in 2025 ranges from Rs 22 to Rs 37/kWh depending on consumer category. Every kWh you generate and store yourself is a kWh you don’t buy.

How It Works

Solar + Battery — How the System Works

During daylight hours, your solar panels generate electricity. This powers your home or business directly. Any surplus — generation beyond what you are consuming at that moment — flows into the battery instead of being wasted or exported to the grid at a low net-metering rate.

After sunset, the battery discharges to power your loads. Your air conditioners, lighting, appliances and office equipment run on stored solar energy through the evening and overnight. The grid is only drawn upon when the battery reaches its minimum state of charge.

During a grid outage — whether scheduled load shedding or an unannounced fault — the system switches automatically to battery in under 20 milliseconds. There is no interruption. No startup delay. Your operation continues as if nothing happened.

Choosing a Battery

LFP Battery for Solar Pakistan — What to Look For

The battery is the most important and most expensive component in your system. Getting this decision wrong costs you money for a decade. Here is what actually matters.

Chemistry — Non-Negotiable

Always LFP in Pakistan

NMC (Nickel Manganese Cobalt) batteries are cheaper upfront but thermally unstable in heat. Pakistan’s ambient temperatures — regularly 40–45°C in summer — accelerate NMC degradation and increase fire risk. LFP (Lithium Iron Phosphate) is thermally stable, delivers 6,000+ cycles at 80% depth of discharge and does not enter thermal runaway. Every battery in the CR range is LFP.

Cycle Life — The Real Cost

6,000+ Cycles vs 3,000

A system that charges and discharges once daily uses 365 cycles per year. A 3,000-cycle battery lasts around 8 years. A 6,000-cycle battery lasts 16+ years. The difference in total cost of ownership is enormous. Do not compare purchase price without comparing cycle life — they are the same calculation done over different time periods.

Warranty — Who Handles It

Local Warranty Is Everything

A 10-year warranty from a Chinese manufacturer that requires you to ship a 50 kg battery module to China for a claim is not a warranty. It is a document. Every Aokly and MountRex system sold through Charania Renewables is warranted directly by us. If there is a fault, we manage it. No overseas referral, no waiting.

Sizing — The Critical Step

Right Size Before Purchase

An undersized battery empties before morning. An oversized one sits half-charged and degrades faster than it should. Sizing requires your actual daily consumption, your target backup duration and your existing or planned solar array size. We run this calculation before recommending any product.

Inverter Compatibility

Match Battery to Inverter

Your battery must communicate with your hybrid inverter via CAN or RS485. Not all batteries work with all inverters. Aokly LV systems are compatible with Growatt, Deye, Solis, SolarEdge and Voltronic — the most common hybrid inverters in Pakistan. We confirm compatibility before any order is placed.

Voltage — LV or HV

48V LV vs High Voltage

Residential and small commercial systems use 48V LV batteries — simple, widely compatible and channel-deliverable. Large commercial and industrial sites need HV (480V+) architecture for the power levels required. Getting the voltage class wrong means replacing the inverter. We advise on this before any equipment is specified.

Which System

Which Solar Battery Is Right for You?

The right system depends on your daily consumption, backup hours required and whether you are adding to an existing solar system or starting fresh.

Residential

Home & Small Office

Daily consumption 20–50 kWh. Backup 4–8 hours. Existing solar or new system. 5–15 kWh battery range.

Recommended: MountRex LV 5 — or — Aokly LV 5 / LV 10

MountRex → Aokly LV5 →
Commercial

Office & Retail Building

Daily consumption 50–200 kWh. Peak shaving plus backup. 15–60 kWh range. May use stacked LV or single HV unit.

Recommended: Aokly LV 15 (stacked) — or — ZBox60

Aokly LV15 → ZBox60 →
Industrial

Factory & Large Facility

Daily consumption 200 kWh+. MDI peak shaving plus backup. HV BESS. Full engineering engagement required.

Recommended: ZBox100-HS — or — ZBox200

ZBox100-HS → ZBox200 →
Common Questions

Solar Battery Pakistan — Questions We Get Every Week

Can I add a battery to my existing solar system?

Yes, in most cases. If you have a hybrid inverter (Growatt, Deye, Solis, Voltronic, SolarEdge) you can add an Aokly LV battery directly without replacing any equipment. If you have a string inverter only, you would need to add a hybrid inverter as well. We confirm compatibility before any recommendation is made.

How many batteries do I need for 8 hours of backup?

It depends entirely on your load. A home running 2 ACs, lighting and appliances at around 2–3 kW continuous would need 16–24 kWh of usable capacity for 8 hours — roughly 3–4 Aokly LV 5 units or 2 Aokly LV 10 units. We size from your actual bill data, not estimates.

Is LFP really better than NMC for Pakistan?

Yes, unambiguously. NMC chemistry has higher energy density but is thermally unstable above 35–40°C ambient. Pakistani summers regularly push 45°C. NMC in a poorly ventilated plant room or outdoor enclosure degrades rapidly and carries real fire risk. LFP operates safely to 50°C and beyond, delivers twice the cycle life and costs less per usable kWh over a 10-year period.

What happens to my net metering if I add a battery?

A battery reduces your grid export because the system stores surplus solar rather than sending it to the grid. For most consumers this is preferable — NEPRA’s net metering credit rate has been revised downward and the economics of self-consumption via battery now outperform export for most load profiles in Pakistan.

What is the warranty on Aokly and MountRex batteries?

2 years, handled directly by Charania Renewables. No overseas manufacturer referral. If there is a fault within the warranty period, we manage it. Our channel partners who install Aokly systems are vetted by us and have direct technical escalation for commissioning and in-service issues.
